Old Port Pen in Antique Pewter and Brass with Green Printed Circuit Board

It’s race day

I’m sitting here today watching the road race in Sonoma. I’ve been a race fan since I was a kid and watched Al Hammond and Mike Rowe battle each other at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine.  There were other drivers that were fun to watch too like Sam Horn and Leland Kangas but it seemed like it was always Al and Mike battling each other for the win each Saturday night. Every Saturday night I got to sit in the stands and watch short track racing at its best.

I have to admit that road racing was the type of racing that I didn’t really care for. That was, in most part, because I just didn’t understand it. Racing, to me, was always get to the end of the straightaway and turn left. Pretty simple concept and one that I could understand. However as I’ve gotten older I have to say that I prefer to watch road racing because it’s not the same thing week after week. Road racing seems to really make the teams think and the strategies seem different for each team. Not just get to the end of the straightaway and turn left anymore.

Today’s pen

Today I’m introducing a new pen style for us. The pen pictured above is the Old Port. As a lot of you know, all of my pens are named for someplace here in Maine and this new pen isn’t any different. The Old Port is a section on the waterfront down in Portland. It’s a working seaport and you can find some of the state’s best restaurants, bars/pubs and little shops there. If you are ever in Portland be sure to spend a few hours exploring the Old Port. You won’t regret it.

Now back to the pen. This particular pen features a green printed circuit board that was cast in polyester resin. That’s the part of the pen that I have turned. The mechanism is a twist mechanism made in Antique Pewter and Brass plating that uses a Parker™ style refill.
