Dyed Purple Box Elder Burl Bottle Stopper - Dailey Woodworking

Dyed Purple Box Elder Burl Bottle Stopper

Day 21

On day 21 of my summer of turning, I was making a few different styles of bottle stoppers. I made some t-handle stoppers and the one pictured that features a stainless steel stopper. The top was turned from dyed purple Box Elder Burl and hopefully, I turned it into a pleasing shape. You can see some white spots on different parts of the top. Those white spots are where the burl wood was too dense to accept the dye and remained the natural color of the Box Elder Burl.

Curly Maple Wooden Bowl

Day 22

On day 22 I wanted to turn something that I’ve wanted to do for a very long time. I turn a small Curly Maple bowl, I know, not a big surprise there, right? However what I did on the outside is where I did the something that I’ve wanted to do. Starting near the rim I turned one bead after another until I reached the bottom. I think it gives the outside of the bowl a very cool effect. I can see where this is going to lead to more experimentation with beads along the outside, bigger beads, smaller beads and various size beads and spacing.

Brown, Natural and Green Laminated Wood Bottle Stopper - Dailey Woodworking

Brown, Natural and Green Bottle Stopper

Day 23

On day 23 I turned this laminated bottle stopper to ship out to Texas. The lamination colors are brown, white (natural) and green that repeat over and over. I think the shape lends itself to working with laminated stock and shows off the layers and different colors quite nicely.
