Welcome to Dailey Woodworking!
This Curly Maple wooden bowl has figure to spare. Curly Maple is also referred to as Tiger Stripe Maple or Fiddleback Maple.
Can you make out the face on the inside of the bowl? In picture number 3, up near the top inside of the bowl, you can see a couple yellowish spots for eyes. Then, near the bottom on the same picture, it kind of looks like a roundish mouth in the grain pattern.
The bowl has a deeper color because the log that the bowl was turned from had sat on the ground for a few months before I made this bowl. The bowl is 9 1/2 inches in diameter by3 7/8 inches high. All sizes are approximate. The foot is 3 inches wide and has been turned with a little concave to add stability. Approximately 3/4 of an inch down from the rim I've added a decorative textured ring all around the bowl. This wooden bowl has a nice round undercut rim that gently slopes into the bowl. The bowl has been finished with an all natural polymerized Tung oil and wax finish which makes it food safe and then it has been buffed to bring it to a nice luster.
This bowl was hand turned on a lathe using only hand tools and was made in Maine with pride.
The bowl that you see pictured here is the actual bowl that you will receive and care instructions will be included.
This Curly Maple bowl would make a great Christmas gift, Wedding gift or Anniversary present. This bowl could be used as a fruit bowl, salad bowl, popcorn bowl, candy dish or even as a place to keep your mail.
